Bodegas Forcada Rioja Spain
Bodegas Forcada Rioja is a multi award winning family owned winery located in the far south of the Rioja region. Situated in a unique biosphere, which prohibits the use of pesticides and herbicides, the old vines of the Forcada family are grown at a height of 800 metres on complex soils they share with the wild fauna and flora of the region.
The vineyard are scattered in small parcels in the hills of this unique terroir and handpicked due to the challenging geography of the region,
The vines are on average between 30 and 100 years old producing wines of richness and intensity.
These wines remained undiscovered and unavailable in the UK until 2017 when they first reached the shores of the UK.
In 2019 David's sumptuous old vine Alma de Forcada "Cepas Viejas" Garnacha Rioja swept the board at the International Wine Challenge in London winning 3 Trophies for the, until then, hidden secret of Bodegas Forcada, declaring the wine the Trophy winner for Worlds Best Garnacha. A wonderful accolade indeed.
